They offer good ankle support without all the lacing required by our 8" boots. The boots also have a slip-resistant cup sole that holds up well whether you spend your day on asphalt, gravel, grass or dirt. The upper is a combination of leather and heavy duty nylon. The suede collar is padded for comfort, and the hardware is rust proof. All told, these are a great pair of boots.
